Floating shelves seems to be a love or hate topic in the design world. I personally love the versatility of a well-built floating shelf, and the ability to make a room appear custom, without actually being custom. One of the struggles, however, is that many options out there, can’t hold a significant amount of weight. A problem for people like me, who will put anything + everything on them, i.e. plates, glasses, a small child…? When I got the opportunity to incorporate this idea into one of my projects with Homepolish, I knew that I would need to find a solution that could handle almost anything. During this search, I came across Ultrashelf. Check out my 3 favorite things about this versatile solution to my design dilemmas. They are also currently offering 20% off + were generous enough to offer an additional 5% to my readers, using the link below.

1. DURABLE
These things are STRONG. I know I make modeling these shelves look easy (lololol) but they are actually super heavy + come with a steel bracket / sheetrock anchor. It’s no surprise that they can easily hold 100+ pounds when mounted correctly, so feel free to display #allofthethings on these guys, without the worry.

2. CUSTOM
Although Ultrashelf offers several in stock + ready to ship sizes, you can create virtually any size, custom to your needs. Their team is super easy to work with, and can help bring any of your floating shelf ideas to life.
Low key about to drop this shelf because it is so solid.
Plenty of space to hold my plant, Winston, and a couple of my favorite books. I totally could have fit plates + glasses that I use for entertaining on here, but I was going for a more casual look for this #shelfie.
3. QUALITY
These shelves LOOK GOOD. It’s obviously great to be able to display all of the cool pieces you’ve collected over the years, without everything crashing to the ground, but it’s also amazing that the piece itself looks durable AND beautiful. When I opened up the shelf, I was excited about how smooth + solid the piece felt. It was packaged perfectly, so there were no damages (something surprisingly common with shipped furniture + home decor in general), and they even included a surprise candy bar from their home state of Idaho, for me… thanks guys!
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the quality of the shelf + customer service that I received from Ultrashelf. I love the dark walnut stain that I got, but there are several other finishes that you can get for your own shelves, or you can even purchase them unfinished. If you’re renovating or looking for an update, check out Ultrashelf with this link and use code TLLDESIGN for an additional 5% discount, on top of their 20% deal that they are currently having. Happy shelfie-ing!
