Last year, I made a great start to reading one book a month. Sadly that didn’t last longer than a month, so I decided to officially make this a resolution + read at least one book, fiction or non-fiction, every month for all of 2018. This also falls into another resolution of mine, which is to shut down my phone a half hour before bed. I think both of these tasks will be a challenge, but their benefits seem to be worth it. Below I highlighted my top picks, but I’m sure this will be an ever expanding list… Fair warning – many of these books are feminine power centered 😉

I don’t typically like to see a show before reading the book, but since I’m not a time traveler, here we are. Plus the women in the cast were so bad a**, that I’m looking forward to imagining the characters with their tv show counterparts.

I think the relationship that women have with their bodies + food is something that almost everyone can relate to in one way or another, but it isn’t always talked about openly. As someone that’s always struggled with this, I’m looking forward to seeing what this book is all about.

Ashley Graham is the woman I needed in my life when I was growing up. She is fierce + beautiful.

I started following Rupi Kaur last year on Instagram, and was immediately hooked. Her poems are so relatable + real.

I’ve never really been one for poetry, but I’m kind of feeling it this year.

Never judge a book by its cover… unless it’s pink. The content sounds great too though.

I LOVE Harry Potter. I begrudgingly read the first one in seventh grade + was instantly hooked. If I can channel 12 year old Sarah’s motivation, I hope to re-read the whole series this year.

This book has been sitting in my Amazon cart for over a year now. I think the title of this book needs to be my mantra in life, anyone else with me?

Another book I’ve been pining after for awhile. I picked it up this summer at my favorite bookstore in the White Mountains, but still haven’t read it. Not only have I heard amazing things about the book, but look at the artwork! Elizabeth Gilbert’s podcast is also extremely inspiring + relaxing to listen to.

I bought this book back in the summer + brought it with me to Israel, thinking I would have all this free time to read…

This book just sounds lovely + a great way to own who you are.

A book that I read in 9th grade, but was too immature to appreciate or understand at the time. Seeing it come back into the spotlight as a play on Broadway, made me want to give it another read from an adult perspective. Now that I think about it, this is also Pantone’s Color of the Year, so it must be a sign…

Another book, another Amazon wishlist item. I want to read all of Gabby’s books, but thought I would start with one, since I clearly have a lot of reading to catch up on.

This recommendation came at the end of You Are a Badass, one of my absolute favorites. Deepak Chopra is also one of the gurus of the law of attraction, so can you really go wrong?
